The 19th Annual New Year's Art Fair is an event on 5th Avenue S. in downtown Naples, Fl. It is held the weekend after New Year's Eve. It is sponsored by The Naples Art Association, a local group that sponsors events and functions of interest in the visual arts.
For the fair, the upper 6 blocks of 5th Avenue S. are blocked to traffic and about 240 artists join to showcase their wares.
The art fair was very well attended
After another spectacular sunset on the beach
my dining companion (DC) and I decided to check out Roy's Aloha Hour, or happy hour, in Naples which was going on all night long for the weekend of The New Year. I did a Post on this in May of 2013, but they have an all new menu which I felt garnered a second look.
Roy's Naples is located in Bayfront, another mixed use commercial/residential development here. I used to take Affront at these types of developments as I thought they were a bit Contrived, but why not?
Happy hour is offered in either the bar area inside
The first thing that was ordered was the Red Curry and chicken Samosas, plopped atop a sour cream/cilantro sauce. Not bad.
We then tried an Ebi, or shrimp roll, with mango, avocado, cream cheese, coconut and a Nitsume Aioli, or concentrated seafood mayonnaise topping. Not bad.
The shrimp and pork Gyoza were next, served atop a sweet Sriracha sauce and topped with Frisee. Very tasty.
We then sampled the Misoyaki Butterfish lettuce "wraps". Very good with accompanying noodles and "truffled" mushrooms (mushrooms cooked in Truffle Oil).
The last thing that was sampled, Gott in Himmel, as my Austrian grandmother would say, was the Wagyu Burger.
Lotsa food, this burger was served with caramelized onions, fried egg, Togarashi, or red chili aioli on Egg Bread with onion rings. Yikes!
All the food here was very good and I would recommend readers to check out aloha hour here, which runs from 4:30-7 PM daily.
It's a wrap for another post on Forks.
