That day they hosted The Regional International Blues Challenge hosted by The Southwest Florida Blues Society. The winner of this show advanced to The International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN to be held in 2015.
They were serving, aptly, Memphis-Style barbecue.
Chicken, ribs, beans, corn and slaw. Sure looked good.
Now for the music. The competition was divided into solo and band categories.
The Pitbull of Blues opened the show.
This was followed by 3 solo acts. William Frey,
Little Eddie from Little Eddie and the Fat Fingers
and Gator Nate
an extremely talented one man band. Gator was the winner of the solo competition.
While the crowd waited for more music
the band portion of the competition began.
The R J Howson Band opened
followed by Big Buck and the Biscuit Boys
The RJ Howson Band was the lucky one that will go to Memphis.
To close the show The Mark Telesca Band made a special appearance.
Just about everyone of these performers were great and a bargain for $10.00. I look forward to more Southwest Florida Blues Society events.
I have had my camera for a couple of years and had never used it for video until now. I have decided to include a couple of video clips from the show. For those in the "know" these videos are in MP4 format so they may or may not play on your mobile device.
