The Art Council of Southwest Florida was formed over 50 years ago. It has 19 art member organizations under it's rubric from Collier, Lee, Hendry, Glades and Charlotte counties in Southwest Florida.
They have a co-op art gallery in Estero, FL called, eponymously, The Art Council of Southwest Florida Co-op Art Gallery.
They have a very nice exhibition space for member artists and have been here for about 1 and 1/2 years.
The second Monday of every month they have a receiving of artwork by member artists. All of the artwork is for sale, and art submissions are juried into the gallery. This means that someone with expertise in the arts says you're either accepted or not accepted to exhibit in the gallery.
It's really a good deal for artists. The exhibition fees and sales commissions levied on exhibitors are quite reasonable. In addition, there are good opportunities for exposure of member's art, as the gallery is housed in a Major Shopping Mall.
After receiving, there is an artist's reception the following Friday from 5-7 P.M. I was one of the lucky ones whose art was accepted into the gallery. As the gallery is a Co-op, exhibitors must work there for a bit each month. Always loving a good party, I decided to work at the reception. Being a co-op, members also supply the food and beverage for the event.
There were a variety of wines served in addition to a very nice punch made from ginger ale and pear nectar.
Member artists also brought a varied selections of nibbles including meats and cheeses, vegetables with dips,
Attendees really seemed to enjoy the reception that evening.
Another pleasant evening of food and art, and another review on Forks.
