Cinco de Mayo at the Naples Beach Club

Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican independence day (September 16th). It celebrates Mexico's victory in battle with the French at the city of Puebla in 1862.

Cinco de Mayo

What a better place to spend it than at the soiree they have every Sunday evening at the Naples Beach Club in anticipation of sunset.

With the exception of the summer jazz concert series that they have here (June-September)

I have never seen it this crowded on a Sunday night.

Perhaps everyone, as I did used Cinco de Mayo as a great excuse to go out and have fun.

This is the by the glass wine and beer menu from the hotel's waterfront dining room, HB's on the Gulf (more about this restaurant in a later post).

Most of these selections from the menu are available at either the main outside bar or at the outdoor satellite bars they provide for events like this.

After ordering a glass of chardonnay, we listened to the band which was pretty good.

We were then treated to another spectacular Naples, Florida sunset.

On the way out the band was really cooking, the dance floor was packed and everyone was having a great time. Happy Cinco de Mayo!
